Anecdote

Hillary knew about the rumors.  She knew more than her best friends did.  But she kept her silence.  They had been married for nine years now.  She was thirty-eight years old.  They had weathered other personal storms.
Yet there were periods of tension and anger.  Unsubstantiated stories spread about fights in the governor's mansion.
"Their rows used to get pretty loud," one informant was quoted as saying.  "On one occasion Hillary and Bill got into a fight at his office--and when she came storming out, he stood at the top of the stairs yelling: 'I'm still the governor here, bitch, and don't you forget it!'"
