Vito Fossella: White Working-Class Icon
In fact, I expect a Vito Fossella Memorial Defense Parade to come marching down my street at any minute. After all, the three cardinal virtues of "white, working-class" Brooklynites are:
1) drunk driving
2) siring extra-marital children with members of the Air Force
3) enormous plastic snow-globes and inflatable cartoon characters flanking the creches and U.S. flags on the lawn during the holiday season.
W/r/t the article itself, I love how they manage to interview a guy who was himself convicted of DUI (on the Verrazano bridge, nonetheless!) to comment on Fossella's DUI.
One patron, a former firefighter named Glen Midbo, 50, said of Mr. Fossella, “Here’s a guy - a politician making all that money, who makes laws and gets driven around in a limo, but he does this and he’ll probably get off. He should be sent to jail and he should resign.” Mr. Midbo was arrested for driving under the influence on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge several years ago and was forced to retire from the city’s Fire Department and to pay a $15,000 fine.
“Three years later, I don’t have my license back,” he said. “Let’s see how long it takes to get his license back.”
Well, I guess that's just life in the white working-class.
As the pizza place down the block might say, Go Hillary!!!!!
