Does McCain Have a Problem with His Face?

Which of McCain's "issues" do you suspect was responsible for his falling asleep during the SOTU speech?

And speaking of "faces," what is the area above the neckline and below the white space in this image of "Fox's Gibson"?

Webb continues to be awesome

Tonight we are calling on this President to take similar action, in both areas. If he does, we will join him. If he does not, we will be showing him the way.

Thank you for listening. And God bless America.

Quadrannular Flashback

Four years ago today in the NYT:

To the Editor:

In "Thinking About Iraq (I)" (column, Jan. 22), Thomas L. Friedman did not address the most compelling argument put forth by liberals: the weapons inspectors should be given more time.

The argument goes something like this. Given the collective opinions of the representatives of France, Germany, China and Russia, along with the expert opinions expressed by Hans Blix and the United Nations weapons inspectors, it's clear that war is not necessary, even if it is convenient.

If President Bush believes that war is a last resort, he will wait and give the inspectors a chance. If he refuses to wait, he must accept full responsibility for the carnage that is visited upon innocent Iraqi men, women and children.

...and in the Houston Chronicle:

Despite the possibility of war, Rove said he didn't expect the president to call for the kind of sacrifices that were required during World War II, when food and fuel were rationed. He said that Bush, instead, has asked Americans to volunteer for emergency services organizations and to help the less fortunate.

Rove also took issue with criticism that the president has sided with wealthy interests and rolled back environmental reforms.

"This president is a populist," he said. "Given a choice between Wall Street and Main Street, he will chose Main Street any time."
